The Obi-Wan Movie Looks To Be Taking A Step Forward

The Obi-Wan Movie Looks To Be Taking A Step Forward

While no Star Wars movie has been officially announced after Episode IX, the current rumor is that a film focusing on Obi-Wan Kenobi may be the next Star Wars Story on the agenda, and it looks like it may be further along than we thought. Apparently, the word going around Belfast, Northern Ireland is that the city's Paint Hall film studio will be busy throughout this year and next, because after Game of Thrones finishes filming there, Star Wars is coming to town, and the rumor is the franchise is coming to film the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie.

The rumor mill apparently began to swirl at the end of last year because George Lucas himself was in town, and people were wondering what the Star Wars creator was up to. According to the Belfast Telegraph, he was there to check out the studio in order to give his seal of approval for the next standalone Star Wars movie. An unnamed source confirmed to the paper that Star Wars was planning to shoot there either later this year or early next year, though the source does not mention the Obi-Wan Kenobi movie by name, just the franchise. It's not clear why the paper is so sure that Obi-Wan will be the source of the planned film.

With no Star Wars currently on the schedule for 2020 and beyond, though several projects have been announced, it makes sense that Lucasfilm is planning something to be filming by 2019, though if the studio is already deciding where it wants to film things, then the project would seem to be further along than we thought. If Lucasfilm is this confident where and when filming will start then there must be enough of a script completed to know that Paint Hall studios in Dublin will serve its needs. We know there's a pretty good chance Lucasfilm has its lead actor locked down, as Ewan McGregor has been open to returning to the franchise for years.

Still, this is just a rumor at this point and it is a somewhat odd one. While George Lucas has never been far from the Star Wars universe since selling Lucasfilm to Disney, his role so far has been to visit sets during filming to tell the director he's doing a good job and to give an opinion of the finished film after it premieres. This is the first we've heard of Lucas being on the vanguard of a production. Maybe his visit wasn't official but he happened to know what Lucasfilm was planning and wanted to check out the site? Or maybe he was just on vacation in Ireland and wanted a tour of the local studio.

Whatever the details, the evidence does appear to be building that Lucasfilm has a plan for the post-trilogy franchise which is moving forward, even if the studio hasn't officially announced anything to the rest of us.

Brie Larsons Showing Off Serious Skills In Captain Marvel Training Video

Brie Larsons Showing Off Serious Skills In Captain Marvel Training Video

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War! Do not read ahead until you've seen it.

In the post-credits scene to Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel was basically teased as the potential savior of Earth's Mightiest Heroes and the countless citizens of the universe who fell when Thanos snapped his fingers. So needless to say, expectations are high that when Captain Marvel makes her debut next March, she will be the hero the MCU needs. Before then, actress Brie Larson is working hard to live up to the role, putting in the gym time necessary to be the Captain Marvel we deserve. You can take a look at her showing off her skills and what goes in to being a superhero in the training video below.

If there's one thing that is going to make the difference in defeating Thanos, and something the Hulk & Co. might have slacked on, it's leg day. Truthfully, these barbell overhead walking lunges are a whole body workout and you can tell how intense and focused Brie Larson is while doing them in this Instagram post. She's hitting depth too, not cheating or taking shortcuts. That's very Captain Marvel to do things the right way. While major stars like Brie Larson have stunt doubles to make them look good in action scenes, they still have to look the part and be believable as strong, capable heroes and that usually involves a tough diet and workout regimen, one that Brie Larson looks to be excelling at.

One cool thing about this is that for years we saw physical transformations from the likes of Hugh Jackman and Ben Affleck and other male actors as they put on muscle for their superhero roles, but now with more female superheroes making their way to the big screen, we are seeing that women can also bring a strength and physicality to these parts. Actresses like Alicia Vikander in Tomb Raider and Gal Gadot in Wonder Woman and now Brie Larson are setting a new standard for what heroes can look like. However, as the Hulk found out, strength alone will not be enough to stop Thanos, so hopefully, Captain Marvel is bringing some serious fighting skills and energy blasts to the table.

If fans were excited about Captain Marvel before Infinity War, they are infinitely more so after it. The post-credits scene found Nick Fury basically throwing up a Hail Mary page to Carol Danvers right as Thanos wiped out half the universe, Avengers included. This sets her up to be a huge deal in Avengers 4, a film that she has been confirmed to appear in. No disrespect to Ant-Man and the Wasp, but it's hard to argue that the newness and potential of Captain Marvel doesn't make that the most anticipated non-Avengers MCU film as we begin the year-long road to Avengers 4.

Captain Marvel is directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck and blasts into theaters on March 8th, 2019. To see movies hitting theaters a little bit sooner, check our 2018 release schedule and for more helpful reminders to get into summer shape very soon, stay tuned to CinemaBlend.

Disney Wouldn't Let Wreck-It Ralph 2 Make A Kylo Ren Joke

Disney Wouldn't Let Wreck-It Ralph 2 Make A Kylo Ren Joke

Animated Disney movies are known for making jokes about pop culture on occasion, but ahead of the release of Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2, directors Rich Moore and Phil Johnston have revealed a Kylo Ren joke did not make the final cut. Moore revealed more about what happened in a recent interview, noting,

At one point we had a joke about Kylo Ren being kind of a spoiled child. We went to Lucasfilm and said, here's what we're doing. And they said, well, we'd prefer that you don't show him as a spoiled child. You know, he is our villain, and we'd prefer you don't do that. So, we were respectful of that.

Disney apparently has pretty strong communication between departments, as Rich Moore said the creative team respectfully went to Lucasfilm with the original idea, whereupon they were promptly shot down. Considering the upcoming movie already notoriously has a scene featuring the Disney Princesses playing up their various personalities and stereotypes, the lack of tolerance for a Kylo Ren joke might seem like a surprise, but the directors don't seem too bent out of shape about being told "no."

Instead, they told IGN the decision to cut the Kylo Ren joke was one that made sense for the movie. In order for a jab to work it really needs to "honor who these characters are" not take a quick shot for the sake of comedy. Phil Johnston also told the outlet the movie is really going for "loving satire" and apparently the Kylo Ren joke really didn't fit that mold.

Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 isn't avoiding Disney's popular Star Wars franchise completely. In fact, C-3PO is set to be the butler in the upcoming movie, also appearing in the princesses scene.

Director Rich Moore previously addressed why Princess Leia wasn't included in the Disney princesses scene, noting,

I mean there are a lot of princesses that are from Disney movies that are not part of the canonized Disney princesses, you know, and I don't know how they're chosen. I don't know how it goes on. I think it's kinda like the Vatican where smoke comes out of a chimney. 'And Moana is now a Disney princess.' So we decided we're going to use the canonized group of princesses, known as the Disney Princesses.

If you haven't seen the full trailer for Wreck-It Ralph 2 in all its princess glory, be sure to check it out below.

So, it sounds like some Star Wars references will make it in, but some just didn't really fit the direction of where the movie was going or what Disney was hoping to see in the animated flick. We'll be able to see if the tone in Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 is not too hot, not too cold and, in fact, just right when the movie hits theaters on November 21, 2018.

Has Aquamans Blu-Ray Release Date Been Leaked?

Has Aquamans Blu-Ray Release Date Been Leaked?

Aquaman has been in theaters for over a month now, meaning that its time on the big screen is winding down. Since the gap between a movie finishing its theatrical run and arriving on home media is shorter than ever nowadays, some of you may be wondering when Aquaman will be available for purchase on Blu-ray and DVD. According to a new rumor, the sixth DC Extended Universe movie could drop on those formats on March 26.

This potential release date comes from The Digital Bits, which claims its sources have suggested March 26 as the "likeliest street date" for Aquaman. It goes without saying that this is by no means official, but if Aquaman does come out on Blu-ray and DVD on the last Tuesday of March, then that likely means that the digital release will precede it by two weeks (i.e. March 12), as is usually the case with home media releases nowadays. We'll have to wait and see if these are indeed the dates Warner Bros and DC drop Aquaman or if they have a different window in mind.

As one of the most visually stunning movies in the DCEU, you can bet there are a lot of people who are eager to be able to watch Aquaman in the comfort of their own home in high resolution. Of course, the movie has already cemented itself as a force to be reckoned with on the big screen. Although it came out in the second-to-last week of 2018, the superhero blockbuster has become the fifth highest-grossing movie of that year with its $1.067 billion worldwide haul. Critical reaction has been more mixed, but it will be interesting to see how well Aquaman sells on home media. Plus, just like with most major motion pictures, you can be sure there will be a lot of special features attached to the Aquaman Blu-ray, from deleted scenes to mini-documentaries.

Set after the events of Justice League, Aquaman followed Arthur Curry as he worked with allies like Mera and Vulko to stop his half-brother Orm, a.k.a. Ocean Master, from uniting the seven underwater kingdoms to attack the surface world. Along the way, Arthur and Mera also clashed with arguably Aquaman's most famous foe, the visually distinctive Black Manta. While Aquaman 2 hasn't officially gotten the green light, the movie definitely set the stage for a sequel, and Jason Momoa has been giving some thought on where the next story could go. Considering Aquaman's impressive commercial performance, it's a good bet that just like what happened with Wonder Woman, we'll be seeing Momoa's Arthur going on another solo adventure in the coming years.

You can still enjoy Aquaman in theaters, and be sure to read CinemaBlend's review of the movie. If you're curious about what else the DCEU has in development, look through our handy guide, or check out our 2019 release schedule to learn what movies will arrive later this year.
