We May Finally Have Our First Glimpse At The Soul Stone In Avengers: Infinity War

Ever since the Tesseract was first shown in the Thor post-credits scene, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been building up Thanos' pursuit of the six Infinity Stones, and later this month, the villain will come to Earth to finally complete this mission in Avengers: Infinity War. Five of the Infinity Stones are accounted for in the MCU, leaving only the Soul Stone to be officially revealed. For years fans have speculated about where the Soul Stone is and what it's capable of doing in this universe, and while we'll have to wait a little longer to learn the latter, the former has been seemingly answered by the latest Avengers: Infinity War TV spot. While there are plenty of fun new moments in this preview, when watching it at a different aspect ratio, it seemingly shows that Thanos will insert the Soul Stone into the Infinity Gauntlet during the movie, as seen below.
While the Soul Stone was briefly seen during The Collector's history lesson in Guardians of the Galaxy, it hasn't properly debut yet. While fans had speculated that it might pop up in Thor: Ragnarok or Black Panther, apparently Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and the other MCU bigwigs decided to save the Soul Stone for Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel's biggest movie yet. Looking at the bottom, right-hand corner of the screenshot above, it appears that the powerful, orange-colored rock has been placed in the Infinity Gauntlet. However, even if the Mad Titan does indeed come to possess the Soul Stone during Infinity War, it's still unclear if he's had it the whole time or if he'll find it elsewhere. Either way, Thanos having the Soul Stone (well, any of the Infinity Stones, really) is not good.
We already knew from previous Avengers: Infinity War trailers that Thanos would obtain the Space and Power Stones in the movie, and along with the Soul Stone, the new Avengers: Infinity War TV spot also shows that he'll secure the Reality Stone, which doesn't bode well for The Collector. That just the leaves the Mind and Time Stones, and while it's possible that one of those Stones is placed on the spot above his thumb, the Mad Titan is definitely missing the other. If Thanos collects all the Infinity Stones, he'll be able to rewrite reality as he sees fit, leaving it up to the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and other assorted superheroes from ensure that he doesn't succeed, and it may take them another movie to accomplish that.
