New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer Is Packed With Dinosaur Action
Hold on to your butts. While the film world, in general, is focused heavily on the pending arrival of Thanos the Mad titan (Josh Brolin) in Avengers: Infinity War, Universal Studios would like to remind you that Chris Pratt will also trade his Star-Lord blaster for some dinosaur terrors in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, arriving later this summer. And what better way to put the blockbuster back on people's radar than with an effective trailer that ratchets up the action and the thrills. This just arrived. Watch it now:
The new poster for JA Bayona's Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom tells audiences that "The Park Is Gone," with other Tweets stating that the park "was just the beginning." This seems to suggest that the dinosaurs are officially leaving Isla Nublar, and taking up residence on our homeland. There were even some suggestions of this happening in the Fallen Kingdom trailers, with dinosaurs plunging into the sea. Yes, this was done in Jurassic Park: The Lost World. But Steven Spielberg let one massive dino loose in San Diego. Bayona looks to be upping the ante, based on the footage that Universal is showing off for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. There are going to be a lot more dinosaurs, in places we don't expect to see them. That, alone, is terrifying.
That poster, shared by Chris Pratt on his Twitter feed, also reminds us of a crucial set piece for the Jurassic World sequel. There's going to be a volcano. The active volcano might be the catalyst to get Owen (Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) back to the island that they left it tatters. But if the rescue mission they attempt goes south, the dinosaurs will be sprung loose. And at that point, god help us all.
Jurassic World, directed by Colin Trevorrow, breathed new life into the dormant franchise that was kicked off by author Michael Crichton and realized on screen by the legendary Steven Spielberg. Because Jurassic World was a smash global hit, a sequel was inevitable, and JA Bayona will move the dino franchise forward with Fallen Kingdom.
Where it goes from there will be up to Colin Trevorrow again, as the Jurassic World director recently signed on to helm the third part of this new trilogy. We'll see if the pieces of the concluding chapter are evident in Bayona's film once Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom reaches theaters on June 22.
