Watch Ant-Man Joke About Eating People In New Ant-Man And The Wasp Footage
If you're a fan of the lighter side of Marvel, and at this point, anything would be lighter than Avengers: Infinity War, then it's looking good as a new spot for Ant-Man and the Wasp is going heavy on the humor. The spot is literally called "Fun TV Spot" and it includes some great banter between the two title characters, a hilarious couple of moments with Michael Pena, and Scott Lang joking about eating a boat full of New Yorkers. Check it out.
At first, Ant-Man and the Wasp could be any superhero movie. The title heroes have accidentally created their own worst enemy, and the only way to defeat her is to work together. This could be literally any Marvel movie, until the "help" the heroes enlist is Michael Pena shouting "Wassup!" From there, things get increasingly sillier, including the moment we've seen in previous trailers where Ant-Man goes the other direction and becomes the immense Giant Man. However, this time we get the added dialogue od Scott Lang saying he wants to eat people, eliciting screams from the assembled people on the boat.
Humor has always been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even the otherwise depressing Avengers: Infinity War had its share of jokes, but nothing has been quite as laugh out loud funny as Ant-Man. Scott Lang is the least likely person to become a hero that Marvel has yet put on the big screen, and while The Wasp is a newer hero, the fact that she has wanted to fight, and trained her whole life for it, makes her look like she's actually much better at this than Ant-Man is.
The fact that Ant-Man even got a sequel was something of a surprise for many, as, while it did fine at the box office domestically, it wasn't a massive hit. Even stranger was the fact that it got placed between the two big Avengers films, which seemed like an odd spot to release it. Now, it seems like Marvel maybe new that fans would need some sort of emotional break between films, as Ant-Man and the Wasp looks to just be a fun ride.
As different as Ant-Man and the Wasp will be compared to Avengers: Infinity War, we still expect the movie to tie into the major team-up film somehow. It's clear that Wasp takes place prior to the events of Infinity War itself, at least it starts that way. It's possible that the new movie could end in more or less the same place, which would make sense so there are no gaps in either story before Avengers 4 starts up, though that's purely speculation at this point.
