Margot Robbie Is Finally In Talks For Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood

Ever since it started coming together last year, one of the earliest actors rumored for Quentin Tarantino's ninth film is Margot Robbie. The actress is seemingly at the top of Tarantino's list to play the late actress Sharon Tate, wife of Roman Polanski and victim of the Manson family. Now it appears that her involvement might soon become official, as Margot Robbie is finally in talks for the role of Sharon Tate in the auteur's latest film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

According to Deadline, an offer has been made and negotiations are officially underway to make this casting a reality. This has seemingly been in the making for some time, with Margot Robbie recently expressing how much she would love to work with Quentin Tarantino, and Sharon Tate's sister even endorsed Robbie being cast in the role. Although she didn't win (that honor went to Frances McDormand), Margot Robbie was nominated for Best Actress at this year's Academy Awards for her work in I, Tonya. So she now enters negotiations as an acclaimed actress with an Oscar nomination to her name. This is another exciting move for the actress who has been in both independent fare and big budget blockbusters in her young career. She has already worked with Martin Scorsese, and now there's a chance she'll work with another of film's biggest directors.

Quentin Tarantino's oeuvre is full of incredible casts, each with big name stars and incredible character actors, but Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is shaping up to be one of his best yet. Should Margot Robbie sign on the dotted line, she will be joining a lineup that already boasts the talents of Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. Back when Margot Robbie was first rumored for the Sharon Tate role, frequent Tarantino collaborator Samuel L. Jackson was also said to be up for a part, though it remains to be seen if he'll actually make an appearance. There were also reports that action star Tom Cruise was being eyed for a role, but it was unclear whether that was one of the roles that went to Pitt and DiCaprio or something different. Either way, it will be exciting to see how this cast fills out for Quentin Tarantino's penultimate film (supposedly).

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood tells the story of 1969 in Los Angeles, with the Manson murders serving as a backdrop. Not a Charles Manson film, the story will center on former Western star Rick Dalton and his stunt double, Cliff Booth, played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, respectively, as they struggle to make it in a changing Hollywood. And it just so happens that the fictional Rick Dalton will be the neighbor of Sharon Tate in the film. This movie is shaping up to be a Pulp Fiction-esque tale of intersecting narratives, and with Margot Robbie joining an already stellar cast, it's hard not to see this as one of 2019's most anticipated films.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood has landed at Sony Pictures following the scandal with The Weinstein Company, and is now scheduled for release on August 9, 2019.
