Samuel L. Jackson Says Mace Windu Should Make A Star Wars Comeback
While the Star Wars prequels aren't universally loved, most fans make an exception for Samuel L. Jackson's Mace Windu. Now is as good a time as any for Lucasfilm to consider a return for Mace Windu. The word on the street is that the studio is currently moving forward on a new Obi-Wan Kenobi movie which is as close to the prequel trilogy as the Disney-led franchise has come. If they're willing to make a movie about Kenobi that takes place post-prequels, they could just as easily make one with Mace Windu as well. If Lucasfilm is interested, Jackson tells Red Carpet News TV he is too.
While Mace Windu apparently died in the final episode of the prequel trilogy, thanks to the combined efforts of Anakin Skywalker and the Emperor, Jackson has argued for some time that there's no reason to believe Windu could not have survived. Back at last year's Star Wars Celebration Jackson argued that losing limbs and falling from great heights have both proven to not necessarily be fatal for Jedi, so there's every reason to believe Mace Windu didn't die there.
I know you're all in my corner on this. We all know Jedi can fall from incredible heights and survive, so apparently, I am not dead. Yes, I have two appendages right now, but we know the long and rich history of Star Wars characters reappearing with new appendages and being stronger and better than they ever were. Mace Windu is awaiting his return, let's make it happen.
It's certainly true that, compared to some, Mace Windu's injuries seemed fairly minor. Anakin Skywalker survived after losing most of his appendages and Darth Maul was cut clean in half and a pair of mechanical legs later it seems everything was fine. While Windu was also fried with Force Lightning, if he was able to recover himself in midair he could have used the Force to soften his landing, and the lightsaber likely cauterized his arm wound, giving him time to seek medical attention.
At this point, it's unclear what the status of the various Star Wars spinoffs truly is, but if there is an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie on the way, and if Mace Windu is still alive, perhaps he could appear in it.
