Goosebumps 2 Is Coming Together, Seems To Have A Title
Goosebumps 2 has finally been coming together, which is great news, considering the movie spent quite a few months deciding on a basic premise and which of R.L. Stine's character would even show up. This week, we learned a bunch of big names including Ken Jeong, Chris Parnell and Wendi McLendon-Covey had all been added to the movie. Then Stine himself surprised us by announcing the movie's title. The famous writer said:
Happy to announce that filming has begun on the Goosebumps movie sequel. Title: Slappy Halloween. Meanwhile, the new Goosebumps SlappyWorld book has just been published.
In a tweet that was later deleted, R.L. Stine seemingly revealed that Slappy Halloween will be the name of the Goosebumps sequel. This makes sense, considering that previously we heard that Goosebumps 2 would be subtitled Slappy's Revenge. Then there was a whole bunch of rumors stating that Jack Black didn't have a deal in place and we didn't know if the new story would accommodate Black's character, Stine.
Now however, the movie has officially been greenlighted, and is moving forward at a pretty rapid pace. The Slappy Halloween subtitle might indicate that Jack Black will be back, at least to voice the famous ventriloquist dummy character, and we'll let you know if and when we get confirmation of that happening. In the meantime, Jeremy Ray Taylor, who recently appeared in IT, is on board for Goosebumps 2. He'll join three other child actors, Madison Iseman, Ben O'Brien, andCaleel Harris. More recently, the aforementioned comedic names Chris Parnell, Ken Jeong and Wendi McLendon-Covey were also announced.
There's no word on exactly why R.L. Stine deleted his announcement, but if we had to guess the studio either wanted to wait to reveal the name or the title Stine brought up is only currently the working title of the flick. Luckily, the Goosebumps Twitter account has been pretty active with casting announcements of late, so hopefully we'll see some stuff from the set soon and hopefully we'll get all the final confirmations very soon. I really, really hope we don't have to wait for a Solo: A Star Wars Story type of reveal on this one. At this point, if Slappy Halloween is the subtitle for Goosebumps 2 the cat's out of the bag, and even if it's only the working title, it at least seemingly reveals that Slappy is the route the studio ultimately is going down with the new movie.
