Could Daredevil Appear In The Black Widow Movie? Here's What Kevin Feige Says
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a very fascinating place right now. The events of Avengers: Infinity War have changed the MCU as we know it, and it's unclear how the shared universe's heroes will recover from their devastating loss at the hands of Thanos. The state of the behemoth franchise after Avengers 4 is a complete mystery, except for a few films that have been confirmed. One of the developing projects that seems to be picking up speed is the upcoming Black Widow movie, with fans wondering which MCU heroes she might bring along for her first standalone adventure. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige was recently asked about the possibility of Charlie Cox's Daredevil finally making his silver screen debut alongside Black Widow, to which Feige responded with:
There are a lot of potential characters that are among that list. That's one I haven't heard.
While there are a ton of heroes who might pop up in Black Widow's long overdue solo film, it's not going to be The Devil of Hell's Kitchen. Bummer for all the hardcore Marvel fans that watch every single movie and TV series, and are waiting with bated breath for their crossover.
Kevin Feige's comments to ComicBook make a great deal of sense, given what we've learned about how Marvel's movies and TV shows operate. While references and crossovers are always on the mind of the fandom, they're easier said than done. After all, each TV show and movie has different producers and schedules. Additionally, the silver screen Marvel projects are kept under wraps, so the inclusion of Daredevil or any other Defender seems like a logistical nightmare.
Although Daredevil won't be joining Natasha Ramanoff for her solo flick, it's exciting that Marvel Studios seems to be weighing the studio's options in regards to who might appear with Black Widow. With the events of Infinity War and Avengers 4 finally uniting Marvel's heroes, it seems like just about any Avengers or Guardian might be a plausible choice.
Perhaps the most obvious would be Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye, who has been criminally underused for the majority of his MCU tenure. His long awaited return will occur in Avengers 4, and Black Widow's movie might be the perfect project to finally flesh out the two non-powered Avengers. It would also be going back to basics, focusing on Natasha and Clint's friendship, which was a driving force through the original Avengers movie. Scarlett Johansson's hero has been mostly focused on her connection with Captain America and Bruce Banner, so it would be refreshing to see her return to her roots.
It's currently unclear if/when the Black Widow movie will arrive in theaters, but CinemaBlend will be sure to update you every step of the way.
