One Marvel Director Sebastian Stan Would Love To Work With
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is riding high right now. Every single movie in Phase Three has been met with critical and financial success, and things are only going to get bigger from here. Black Panther is still breaking records and making a ton of money, while Avengers: Infinity War is set to be the one of the biggest movies in film history. But the future of the shared universe is largely a mystery after Avengers 4, making the possibilities for storytelling seemingly limitless. Since all the heroes are meeting, fans will no doubt be hoping for more crossovers. Sebastian Stan has played Bucky for four movies in the MCU, and now he's revealed which Marvel director he'd most like to work with in the future, saying:
First of all, I LOVE Taika Waititi. I mean, he kills me. And I mean, he REALLY kills me. In Thor there were so many funny moments...I'd love to to work with him in some capacity, I would love that.
It looks like Sebastian Stan is dying to work with the quirky and hilarious director of Thor: Ragnarok. Now we just have to hope that Disney hires Taika Waititi for another directing gig, so we can see this collaboration happen.
Sebastian Stan's comments to Bad Taste make a great deal of sense, considering how well received Thor: Ragnarok was. While the God of Thunder is an OG member of The Avengers, his first two solo movies aren't exactly high points in the overall MCU. But Waititi changed all of that with Ragnarok, and flipped the franchise on its head. He provided a quick, hilarious, and capsulated story that took Thor into a new location and allowed actor Chris Hemsworth to flex his (giant) comedic muscles.
As far as MCU characters go, Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes is one of the only protagonists to get basically no moments of levity. While he and Steve were adorable buddies in The First Avenger, he's spent the majority of his time in the shared universe as a mind controlled living weapon. His scenes are tense and filled with mental anguish, so he's not exactly exchanging quips with the likes of Tony Stark.
Luckily, this might all change with Avengers: Infinity War. The mid-credits scene for Black Panther revealed that Shuri had cured Bucky of his mind control, finally allowing him to have control over his own mind and body. With the Winter Soldier all but dead, perhaps this will give Bucky the chance to lighten up and banter with the rest of The Avengers. Then maybe, just maybe, he'll end up popping up in another Taika Waititi project.
All will be revealed when Avengers: Infinity War arrives in theaters on April 27th. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
