The New Halloweens Michael Myers Will Share Scenes With The Original Michael Myers
The horror genre is in a bit of a renaissance. Rather than stale sequels and horror porn additions, new and innovative films are hitting theaters. There's been a string of horror hits that have been both critically and box office successes, many of these winners have come from Blumhouse Productions. Now the company is setting its sights on a classic franchise: Halloween. A new movie will arrive in time for this year's holiday, including the likes of Jamie Lee Curtis, John Carpenter, and Nick Castle. Castle was the original Michael Myers, as he was known then "the shape", and he's bringing the character to life alongside James Jude Courtney. The latter actor recently revealed that they'll actually be sharing a scene together in the new Halloween, saying:
So we started work, and I can't remember if it was the second or third week that Nick came in and did kind of a cameo. He did a couple of scenes, and I'm in the scenes with him, which is really beautiful. He and I were hoping that would happen, because he even said, 'This is the passing of the torch.'
It looks like things are were emotional and positive on the set of Halloween. Past and present Michael Myers joined together, and acknowledge their shared experience as the iconic horror villain. Plus, Nick Castle is given a special moment as well.
James Jude Courtney's comments to Halloween Daily News seems to once again hammer home how respectful everyone involved in Blumhouse's Halloween is of the original movie. Writer Danny McBride has maintained his dedication to keep the film more ominous and less gory, and Jamie Lee Curtis is once again back to play OG scream queen Laurie Strode. With John Carpenter writing the music, there is a trio of original contributors who no doubt help keep the set in a place that respects the 1978 classic.
The new Halloween movie takes place 40 years after the events of the original, while ignoring all of the subsequent sequels. While fans are eager to see how Laurie Strode grew up in the wake of her traumatic attack from the boogeyman, the new Halloween movie will also feature two more generations of Strode women. Laurie's daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter (Andi Matichak) also have roles, allowing for a family dynamic to be played out alongside the horror. Laurie was given another daughter and son in previous timelines as well.
Once Halloween finally arrives this October, it should be interesting to see how both Nick Castle and James Jude Courtney were utilized during filming. Courtney will no doubt be doing some of the heavier stunt work, but them appearing onscreen together opens new possibilities.
